Today I'm taking a look inside
SapphicErotica.com. If you're not sure what sapphic means, there's a definition right on the main page of the site. It seems the term refers to a Greek poet (poetess actually), Sappho, who apparently used to pen verses involving women in sexual relationships with each other. Up through the centuries, I've guess we've watered things down a bit and now its's basically a synonym for lesbianism. Woohoo! I can hear the Jerry Springer crowd now, chanting: "We love lesbians! We love lesbians!". But wait a second, don't expect to see any flannel shirt wearing, mullet-sporting, hairy armpitted lesbians here at Sapphic Erotica. Oh no. There's pretty much Rosie O'Donnell repellant all over the whole site, thank God. At Sapphic Erotica, you'll find super hot, young (18 to early 20's) models with really pretty faces and tight toned bodies. In other words, the type of chicks you always wish wanted to make out with each other, but for some reason they never do (damn reality!). Anyhow, SapphicErotica.com is run by Bailey, a photographer (and a guy), who shares most guy's passion for seeing hot young babes french kissing and tonguing each other's pussy, tits, and ass. And no fake posed shit here either, these babes are really going at it. Sounds great so far, let's take a closer look.
The Sapphic Erotica members area looks nice and girly, all decked out in shades of pink with little hearts floating around. Navigation here is relatively straight-forward. On the lefthand side of the page, there are 6 graphical links connecting you with the SapphicErotica.com members content. Below that are some small banner ads (labeled as such) and to the right is the latest entry in Bailey's (the photographer guy) diary. The diary basically functions as a Site News area and gives you info about future updates and what kind of shoots Bailey has been doing. The only thing is, it looks like for some reason he only lists the latest entry; none are archived. Below all of this are links to the latest updates (pictures and videos) to the site for about the last week and a half. Incidentally, speaking of updates, Bailey updates the Sapphic Erotica members area 5 days a week, each time with either a complete photoset or a full video (at least two of the updates each week are videos). There's also a Future Updates button which gives you an idea of what you can expect in the way of upcoming additions to the site. Everything looks great design-wise, let's move on and take a look at the actual content here.
There are a couple of ways to check out the pics and vids at Sapphic Erotica and some very cool sorting features which really help to organize the content well. First off, if you want to see things from a chronological perspective, you can click the Latest Updates button in the main menu. This will show you the photo and video updates to the site from most recent to least recent (at least by default--more on sorting options in a sec). If you're looking for just movies, you can use the Movie Index button (which, as you might expect) displays only video content. There's also a Model Index which displays thumbnails of all of the models on the site (and damn, there are some hotties here). Clicking a model's headshot takes you to a listing of the pictures and videos that that particular girl has appeared in. Now, about these sorting and organizational options. They're pretty damn cool. In each one of the aforementioned sections, you can choose (via a pull-down menus at the top of the page) to sort things from oldest to newest or by model. By way of an adjacent menu, you can also refine things further based on a number of options related to the type of content (photo or video) and exclusivity vs. non-exclusivity. Just about every combination of variables is accounted for here. On top of these options, each section also allows you to select "Full" and "Brief" views of the pages as well as the number of thumbnails being displayed in each row (3, 4, or 6) while in Brief mode. Full view includes descriptions of each set and a few preview thumbnails, while Brief just provides a title and date under the thumbnail. At a point, some of this stuff is almost programming overkill, but a lot of it is pretty damn neat. I decided to check out the Sapphic Erotica pictures first.
As with the overall site navigaton, there are a ton of neat options available in the photogalleries as well. Visually, you can choose to have 16, 32, 64, or 96 thumbnails per page. You can also indicate if you want the pics to open in new windows or the same window when you click them. There's also a link to download a zip of the complete series down at the bottom of the page. And then we have a feature that up until now I'd only seen at Abby Winters (one of our favorite sites here at QAP): the ability to create and download a custom zip file by checking which individual photos you want to save and clicking a link at the bottom of the page. Voila! You now have a zip of the images you selected. There is one glitch to this (as with Abby's site as well) because you can only zip up pics that are on one page at a time. In other words, a set that is big enough to be spread out over a few pages (even with the added option of displaying 96 thumbs per page that you have here) will actually leave you with a few zip files (one from each page of the series) if you want to capture images from the entire set. On top of all this stuff, if you're viewing a photoset (or a video, for that matter) with say three models in it, there's a pull-down menu at the top which allows you to select one of the model's names and see all of the content that girl has to offer. Gotta love this level of organization.
Quality-wise, the pics here all looked very nice. Even going back to the oldest stuff (2002), pic size is around 600 x 800 and of good quality. The most recent stuff is nice and large at 800 x 1200 and looks excellent. There's a slight variation in some of the photos because the picture content is shot by different people, sometimes Bailey, sometimes other photographers. If a set is exclusive to Sapphic Erotica, it is typically indicated as being that way (if that makes any difference to you). Anyhow, overall the picture quality looked quite good. I headed on over to the Movie Index to assess the videos. For each movie, there are several preview thumbnails and a description of the action. The full videos are typically broken up into multiple smaller clips. It looks like the very earliest clips here are in Quicktime format, then the clips switch over to a couple of options: wmv, DivX and mpg files. All of these are downloadable, but in order to stream the DivX clips (which do appear to be slightly better quality), you need to wait for the whole video to load, which can be annoying. The earlier stuff is average to good quality. Checking out the newer videos (presently, around 80 or so of the available clips), things look fantastic. There's a full version (in wmv format) and then smaller individual mpg clips. The full versions of the videos range from 15-30 minutes. Quality-wise, the shorter mpg's are pretty similar to the rest of the site, but the single wmv files look awesome: extra large at 640 x 480 with a whopping bit rate of 1.06Mbps and crystal clear. These movies really look great; not far off from DVD quality stuff here, but the file sizes are predictably very large. It says on the free side that Bailey is going back and re-doing some of the older movies to fit into this format as well (i.e. high quality full wmv file with smaller mpg clips), so that's cool.
The subject matter of both the photo and video content here at Sapphic Erotica should be pretty easy to guess: lots and lots of sexy young girls getting busy with each other. The babes here really are quite hot; paging through the model index I saw hardly a one that wasn't very cute to downright gorgeous. A lot (but not all) of them seem to be European (which I like), pretty thin, and naturally small-breasted (a-b cup). If you're looking for plump or curvy girls with huge tits, you might not find what you're looking for, otherwise I think you'll be very pleased. As far as specifics regarding the girls' activities...well, our friendly photographer host Bailey loves to see girls kissing (deep, french kissing) and licking and fingering each other's pussies. I really loved Sapphic Erotica. This surprised me a bit because although I enjoy girl-girl action, I typically like to see it as part of a multi-girl/one guy group encounter.
